The key to being successful on Instagram and TikTok? Posting epic photos and videos.

I follow a three-step process every time I think about creating content. Using this strategy (along with the editing that follows) helps me create the perfect photo or video every time. Try it out and see if you like it!

First: Find your Camera Wing-Woman or Wingman!

Ask someone you’re really comfortable with to take your photos. Usually this is a good friend or significant other. Sometimes it ends up being an unwilling boyfriend or girlfriend  – shoutout to all the “Instagram spouses” out there.

When you’re confident, your photos come out better! Having someone behind the camera who lifts you up and actually enjoys doing it can give you that little boost you need. And hey, who doesn’t love a photoshoot?!

Second: Find the light!

Natural lighting illuminates photos, making them clear and bright. This is ESSENTIAL when posting a photo of a product (or food!) so your followers can read the label and see the packaging or design clearly. Sunrise, sunset, afternoon and shaded lighting are my personal favorites because I don’t have to worry about harsh sunlight that makes it hard to see.

Don’t sweat it if you’re all out of daylight, we’ve found a couple of ways to work around the lighting issue! Lighting kits and Ring lights are artificial ways to help illuminate your scene. Place them around your object, and take a few test shots, moving them around to see which position helps best brighten your photo.
